Enjoy Nature In The City At The National Park Of Brasilia

The National Park of Brasilia is one of the greatest attractions the city has to offer. It covers nearly 30,000 hectares in the northern part of the Federal District, right in the middle of the district of Brasilia. It is the world's largest natural area inside an urban area. When Brasilia was built, the National Park of Brasilia was planned to be what it is today: an oasis of pristine nature in the middle of the city.

You'll find an astounding variety of plants and wildlife in the National Park of Brasilia. The climate is savanna, with scrub and grassland, dense woodlands and swampy plains. In the middle of the National Park of Brasilia sits Lake Santa Maria. The Santa Maria Dam provides all the water needs for the city.

Among the trees you'll find in the National Park of Brasilia are the caesalpinia, pau-terra, caryocar, gujak, aricuri palm trees and others. Plantlife includes custard apple, lobeira, tree lily and much more. The National Park of Brasilia is representative of what you would see outside of the city, in the wild areas of midwestern Brazil.

And there are lots of wild things roaming the park, including the endangered maned wolf, the great anteater, giant armadillos, wild pigs, capybaras, pampas deer, jaguars, and anacondas in the wetlands.

Tourists who come to the National Park of Brasilia can enjoy birdwatching. There are lots of rare species of birds living in the park, including the crested seriema and the toco toucan, birds you won't see anywhere else.

But, the National Park of Brasilia is not just for the flora and fauna. There are plenty of fun things for human beings to do as well.

The park has two main walking trails that lead you through the lush forests. One is the Capivara, and takes about 20 minutes to walk in its entirety. For the more serious hiker, there is the hour-long Cristal trail that takes you further out into the wilds of the park.

Perhaps the park is most famous for its mineral springs. These are two pools of natural mineral springs located in the heart of the park. Their minerals and nutrients are used for healing, and travelers come from all around to soak in them.

The National Park of Brasilia is one of the most fantastic sights to see in all of Brazil. It makes a great Brasilia day trip for any traveler in the city. The National Park of Brasilia is one of the city's attractions that should not be missed.
