Seeing The City Of Brasilia With The Boat Trip On Paranoa Lake.
For those who want to get a unique view of Brasilia, there is a boat trip on Paranoa Lake that should not be missed. This boat trip on Paranoa Lake should definitely be one of your stops among the city's sights and attractions. It is a smooth, easy ride along the calm waters of the lake, with the city of Brasilia in the background.
Lake Paranoa, or "Lago Paranoa" as it's called in Portuguese, is a man-made lake that stretches around the eastern edge of the city of Brasilia. Its tributaries run in every direction, and many of Brasilia's sights and attractions are located close to its shores. The boat trip on Paranoa Lake takes you all over the city.
The lake was built as part of the original design of the city of Brasilia. Now it is used for the city's water sports. There are quite a number of marinas and yacht clubs along the sides of the lake. The people of Brasilia enjoy sailing, windsurfing, jet skiing and many other water sports activities on Paranoa Lake. Brasilia is a remarkably clean city, and it boasts that Paranoa Lake is one of the most unpolluted lakes in the world. There are also things to see on the lake itself, like a floating restaurant.
The boat trip on Paranoa Lake takes 2 hours from start to finish. It departs from the ASBAC Club, one of the city's many yacht clubs. From here it goes out across the great lake toward the city. The tour takes you under Juscelino Kubitschek Bridge, one of Brasilia's spectacular architectural sights. The bridge crosses the lake in the southern part of Brasilia, connecting the outlying highways to the downtown district.
The tour also takes you closer to the president of Brazil than you will probably get otherwise. The boat trip on Lake Paranoa comes quite close to the Palacio da Alvorado, or "Palace of the Dawn," where the president of Brazil lives. This palace is off-limits to tourists. The view from the boat is excellent for picture taking, so be sure to bring lots of film.
The boat trip on Paranoa Lake runs only on weekends. The boat leaves the yacht club at 10 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon, Saturdays and Sundays. You can reserve your boat trip no Paranoa Lake by calling (61) 9982-1161. The tour needs a minimum of 15 people. On some days, it may not run because there aren't enough passengers, but this is rare.
